Meebo is a social networking app that combines all of your instant messaging (IM) services into one program. It supports Yahoo! Messenger, Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, MySpace and many more. It also integrates with lesser-known services, such as Yonja, Dance Trippin, Ultimate Guitar and FooPets. It is simple to select each instant messaging service we use. The interface is incredibly simple and only has three main pages. They are Buddies, Chats, and Accounts. Under the Buddies tab, we will have a listing of which of our friends are logged on to each of the instant messaging services we have added. Under Chats, we will see active chats under Accounts; we can add or subtract accounts and set visibility preferences.
To start a new chat, we simply tap on online buddies and type our message. Meebo includes a variety of emoticons that we can add to your chats. Meebo supports push notifications, so that we can receive alerts on your Phones homepage. It is absolutely free and supports a ton of IM services. The interface is much more refined than most chat apps.
Meebo requires no download, and you can chat to buddies across different IM and social media networks from the same interface. We can add all our network accounts very easily, enabling or disabling them individually if we want. All of our online and offline contacts appear in the tidy Buddy List console. Here we can manage all of our contacts, search for buddies and start group chats. The Buddy List can even be popped out, so it pulls away from the browser and can be used like a normal desktop app.
